How to Increase a Character's Magic Points in Final Fantasy 2 for PS

The "Final Fantasy" franchise consists of fantasy role-playing games in which players engage in quests, fight monsters and save the world. To successfully complete quests, players must increase the magic and health points of their party members. In "Final Fantasy 2," made for PlayStation, the process of gaining levels differs from the other games, making it a little more difficult than other games in the franchise. Knowing the basic rules of level increases and a few handy tricks helps players level up faster.

  Cast magic attacks frequently. The character's magical skill level only increases through use of magic. Likewise, magic that protects the characters, like cure or shield, also increases magic points.

  Avoid actions that use strength, endurance, accuracy or evasion, such as physical attacks. Magic points and health points work on a give and take system, like a see-saw. When one increases, the other decreases slightly. Overuse of physical attacks result in loss of magic points.

  Fight monsters. The best excuse to cast magic attacks and protection is in battle. As players survive magical attacks from monsters, magical defense levels will increase.

  Cast "swap" on an enemy with dramatically lower magic points. The sudden decrease of magic points acts like a long battle with a lot of magic use, increasing magic points.

  Attack Green Souls with magic. Green Souls respond to magic attacks by healing the party. Players can cast a lot of attacks without accruing attacks in return, making these battles an effortless way to use a lot of spells.
