In "Final Fantasy VII," purchase Hypers. These items cast a status of Fury on your party members when used during battle. Hypers can be purchased in shops throughout the game and may also be found in chests. The Fury status allows your Limit Break meter to be filled twice as fast when you are attacked by enemies.
Travel to areas where enemies are numerous and fairly strong. This varies depending on your level and abilities. Early on, the best places to grind are in the Sector 4 train tunnels in Midgar, the Mithril Mines near the Chocobo Farm and the plains just outside of the Chocobo Farm. Around the middle of the game, once you have the Tiny Bronco, head to the island south of the eastern continent -- where Mideel is located. The Shinra mansion is another good grinding area for the middle of the game. During the latter half of the game, go to the Sunken Gelnika plane, which requires the use of the submarine, or the Northern Crater to grind.
Get into as many battles as you can in any of these areas. Use a Hyper on any characters you are trying to grind so that their Limit Break meters fill faster. Allow the enemies to attack these characters.
Use Limit Breaks as soon as the Limit Break meters are full. You must use each Limit Break a certain number of times before you are allowed to use Limit Breaks from the next tier. This number varies depending on the character and the Limit Break you are using, but always ranges between 5 and 10 times.
Kill as many enemies as you can using the characters you are grinding. As with the Limit Breaks, you must kill a certain number of enemies before being allowed to use the next tier of Limit Break abilities. This number also varies depending on the character and the Limit Break tier. The number of kills necessary to level up can be as few as 40 to as many as 320.
