Things You'll Need
Instructions
Confirm that your controller is DualShock enabled. Most controllers made for the PlayStation 3 should have DualShock capabilities, but you can check to make sure by looking for the phrase "DualShock" on the top of the controller, between the two sets of number buttons.
Turn off your PlayStation 3. Plug the large end of the USB cable that came with your system into the front of your PlayStation.
Plug the smaller end of the USB cable into the top of your DualShock controller.
Turn your PlayStation on. You can confirm that your system is on by checking for a red light on the front of the console.
Press the "PS" button in the center of the DualShock controller. Watch for blinking lights on the top of the controller, which indicate that the controller is connecting to DualShock. When the lights stop blinking and only one light remains illuminated, the controller has successfully connected to DualShock.
Remove the USB cable to remain connected to DualShock and play games wirelessly.
