How to Fix the Wireless on a PS3

The most common cause of wireless problems on a PlayStation 3 is the activation of your Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA). Your DLNA is the media server connection that allows content to be shared between multiple PlayStation systems in your home. This can, however, affect your ability to connect to the Internet and share content with outside systems. If disabling your DLNA fails, a system restoration should fix the problem.

Instructions

  1. Disabling media server connection

Use the controller's directional pad to scroll through the list of of options on your XMB home menu. Open the option for "Settings" and choose "Network Settings."

    • 2

Use your controller's directional pad to select and highlight "Media Server Connection." Press the "X" button on your controller.

    • 3

Choose "Disable" from the available options and press the "X" button on your controller to disable your media server connection. You may be asked to verify that you want to continue. Simply hit the "X" button again to confirm that you want to sever the connection.

Restart your PlayStation 3 after the restoration process has finished. You will be taken to the initial setup screen. Hit the PS3 button on your controller to begin initial setup. Follow the prompts on the screen, using your "X" button to select, and re-enter all of your settings preferences.
