How to Burn PS Backups

With the original PlayStation long-since faded into obsolescence, it is becoming increasingly difficult for gamers to find copies of their favorite games for that system. Because of this, more and more gamers are turning to making home-made backups of their games in case anything should happen to the original disk. These backups are typically saved as "image files" on a computer, after which they can be burned onto a blank CD to create a fully-functioning copy of the original game.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your preferred image burning software. If you do not have software installed, you can download some from the links in the "Resources" section.

    • 2

Select the "Burn Image File to Disk" option in your burning program. This can also be labeled "Burn ISO to Disc" or just "Write," depending on the type of software. You want to select the option that will allow you to write a complete image file to a blank CD.

    • 3

Click the "Browse" or "Select File" button or option in your burning program. This will open a new dialog window prompting you to locate the image file you wish to burn. Browse to where the PS game disk's image file is located on your hard drive, then select it and click "OK."

    • 4

Insert your blank CD into your computer's CD-R/RW drive.

    • 5

Ensure that the CD drive with the blank CD is selected as the "Target" drive in your burning program, then click the "Start" button. This may be labeled differently depending on what program you are using. Once the button is pressed, your computer will create a new backup game disk.
