How to Make Silent Hill I Windowed

"Silent Hill I" is a survival horror game released in 1999 for the original Sony PlayStation. Although subsequent games in the series were multi platform and also available on PC the original remained a PlayStation One exclusive. With the use of emulators like XXX, gamers with powerful enough computers can now play their original PlayStation discs on PC. Since the original resolution of the game is quite low players can either use special filters to improve the visuals when emulated or play the game in a window.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a PlayStation One emulator with which "Silent Hill I" is fully compatible. The "ePSXe" emulator is one of the most compatible and runs Silent Hill I" in full screen or windowed mode.

    • 2

Start "ePSXe" and place your original "Silent Hill I" PlayStation disc in the DVD drive of your computer.

    • 3

Click "Config" then "Video" and "Configure." A list of all the video options that can be changed will be displayed.

    • 4

Click the radio button next to "Windowed Mode." Check that the numbers next to "Window Size" is smaller than the resolution your monitor is running at. For example if your monitor resolution is 1024x768 the "Window Size" should be 800x600 or 640x480. This is to ensure that the window "Silent Hill I" runs in is not larger than your screen area (which would make it full screen.)

    • 5

Click "Ok" then restart the program for the changes to be saved.

    • 6

Click "File" then "Run CDROM" to load then game and start it up in windowed mode.
