Alter Spyro's Appearance
If you're not a fan of Spyro's purple scales, you can change his appearance during game play. For example, to turn Spyro blue, pause the game and press "Up," "Left," "Down," "Right," "Up," "Square," R1," "R2," "L1," "L2," "Up," "Right," "Down," "Left," "Up" and "X" on the controller. Explore different button combinations to unlock Spyro's other colors, which include black, green, pink, red and yellow. You can also turn Spyro 2-D and increase the size of his head.
Change Difficulty
If the game if too difficult, you can access Easy Mode by pausing the game and entering "Circle," "Square," "Right," "Left," "Right," "Square," "Circle" and "X" on the controller. Alternatively, you can give yourself 99 lives by pressing "R2," "L2," "R2," "L2," "Up," "Up," "Up" and "Circle." If you want a more challenging game, pause and press "Circle," "Square," "Right," "Left," "Right," "Square," "Circle and "Square."
Warp to Locations
After you complete the game's main adventure, you can warp to any area in the game by pausing the game play and entering "Up," "Down," "Up," "Down," "Left," "Right," "Left," "Right," "Square" and then two other buttons that vary depending on your destination. For example, if you want to warp to Buzz's Dungeon, press "X" and "Up" to complete the warp code.
Revisit Scenes
You can also re-watch the game's cut scenes after you complete the storyline. At the start menu, press "Up," "Down," "Up," "Down," "Left," "Right," "Left," "Right," "Square" and then enter two more buttons that vary depending on the cut scene. For example, press "Up" and "Right" to watch the final scene.
Extra Game Demo
"Spyro: Year of the Dragon" features a demo of "Crash Bash," a PlayStation game by British game developer Eurocom. To access the demo, go to the title screen and hold "L1" and "R2" while pressing "Square."
