How to Get the Shield Materia in FF7

"Final Fantasy VII" is a roleplaying game released for the Sony PlayStation in 1997 and for the PC later. Throughout the game your character collects gems called "materia," which add bonuses and abilities to your character during battle. One of these pieces of materia is called the "Shield" materia, which casts a shield in front of your character and causes attacks from enemies to do slightly less damage.

Instructions

  Play through "Final Fantasy VII" as normal, advancing your way to the third of the three game discs. As you enter the third disc, an area called the Northern Cave (also called the Northern Crater) will become accessible thanks to your airship, the Highwind.

  Enter your Highwind (at whatever point on the map it is docked) and pilot it upward towards the Northern Cave. Exit the cockpit and go to the deck of the Highwind. Climb down the ladder to leave the airship and enter the Northern Cave.

  Select the left path when asked to choose between the left or right path as you enter the Northern Cave. When asked to choose between the upper and lower paths, choose the lower path. The shield materia is accessible on this path in the Northern Cave. You can add it to your inventory by pressing the "X" controller button.
