How to Copy PlayStation 1 CD Images

PlayStation 1 CD images are created from original discs for storage purposes. Extensions for these images include .iso, .img and .bin. Windows 7 supports burning ISO images. A third-party application is needed if the file uses a different extension. With various available programs, copying PlayStation 1 images from your computer is a short and efficient procedure.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a blank CD into your computer's disc drive.

    • 2

Use a disc image management application. Available programs include the native Windows Disc Image Burner software or free third-party options, such as ImgBurn and CDBurnerXP. If using third-party software, download and install it.

    • 3

Launch the disc-burning application and select its main "Burn Disc Image" option. Using ImgBurn, for example, select "Write Image File to Disc" from its main user interface. Alternatively, double-click the image file itself if the program is associated with that image type by default.

    • 4

Select the PlayStation CD image from your computer using the program's "Browse" or "Open" function.

    • 5

Select the disc write speed along with the "Disc at Once" option, if available. The former setting allows you to control the speed at which the image is copied. The latter burns the image permanently, which allows the PlayStation to read it effectively.

    • 6

Allow the program to copy the PlayStation image. Estimated times depend on the image's size and the specified write speed.
