How to a Forge Rainbow Shell in Chrono Cross

Forging with rainbow shells is a secret technique for getting items in the PlayStation game "Chrono Cross." Unlike most weapons that can be created, only the character Zappa can forge rainbow shells. For Zappa to learn this technique, he must meet himself in another timeline while he is equipped with the Master Hammer. This strange scenario is only available in the late stages of the game. Make sure to recruit Zappa during your play, and defeat the Black Dragon in Marbule.

Instructions

- 1
  Recruit Zappa to your party at any point in the game. He can be found in the town of Termina in the Home timeline.

  Fight and defeat the Black Dragon. Find him in a cavern in the Another timeline, in Marbule. Use White element attacks with your characters, because the Black Dragon is weak to these.

  Return to Marbule in the Another timeline later in the game after Marbule has been liberated.

  Return to the cave of the Black Dragon.

  Buy the Master Hammer weapon from a man in the corner of the cave.

  Equip the Master Hammer to Zappa's main weapon slot in your menu.

  Collect one of the many rainbow shells found through the course of the game.

  Travel to Termina in the Another timeline.

  Find the second Zappa running a weapons shop, and talk to him to initiate a cut scene where the two Zappas work together to create a Rainbow Axe. They now know how to forge rainbow weapons.

  Collect rainbow shells throughout the course of the game, and find seven "shiny" items.

  Use summon attacks during battle to obtain "shiny" items. For each summon elemental color, a different "shiny" item is found.

  Bring all seven varieties and a rainbow shell to Zappa in Termina to forge new powerful weapons.
