How to Play Cid in the Card Games on Final Fantasy 8

Many Final Fantasy games have included some sort of sub-game that you may pursue at your own volition to get optional rewards during the course of the game. One of the sub-games is the card game that is included in several of the Final Fantasy editions. In Final Fantasy VIII, there are many opponents that you can challenge in a card game for a change to win exotic cards or rewards. One of the more notable characters is the headmaster of the SeeD university, Headmaster Cid.

Instructions

- 1
  Unlock the card game during the first chapter of the game. This occurs after you go into the Fire Cave with your instructor and obtain the "GF," Ifrit. Talk to the two students standing in the hallway outside of your classroom and they will explain the game to you as well as give you five starter cards.

  Continue playing the game until after your first SeeD mission. This requires hours of game play, but you cannot challenge Cid until after this mission.

  Save the game. You may only play Cid once during this portion of the game, so you might get only one chance to win one of his exotic cards. Save the game so that you can replay Cid if you lose.
- 4
  Find Cid in his office on the top floor of the University. Walk up to him and press the "Square" button. This triggers a game with Cid. Agree to the game and you are able to play Cid once. He's a challenging opponent but has many potential rewards for winning.
