How to Move iPod Movies to a PlayStation

The PlayStation 3 is more than a video game console. In addition to video games, the system is capable of playing video files, music, DVDs and Blu-ray discs. The PS3 is compatible with a variety of video file types including MPEG-4, the file type used on the iPod. While it isn't possible to transfer a file directly from your iPod to a PlayStation 3 console, it is possible to move iPod movie files to your PS3.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the video file on the computer you originally used to transfer the file to your iPod.

    • 2

Plug the external hard drive, USB drive or memory disk into your computer. Copy the video file from your computer onto the portable hard drive.

    • 3

Plug the portable hard drive into the PlayStation console. Not all PlayStation 3 models come equipped with flash media drives, so it is best to use a USB external hard drive or memory disk if possible.

    • 4

Turn on the PlayStation system and use the controller to navigate to the "Video" tab on the main menu.

    • 5

Using the joystick or directional buttons on the controller, scroll through the video options until you find your portable drive.

    • 6

Press the triangle button on the controller then select "Display all" from the options menu by pressing the "X" button.

    • 7

Scroll through the video files to locate the one you want to move to the PlayStation. While it's highlighted, press the triangle button then select "Copy" by pressing "X." When the file has finished copying to the PlayStation, you can unplug the portable hard drive.
