Spectacular Spider-Man Games

The Spider-Man franchise has launched many video games, some from as early as the 1970s. They have been featured on a wide variety of consoles, including the Atari, GameBoy, and Nintendo. In the 2000s, Spider-Man games spread out to become mostly multi-platform, meaning you can buy them for the console you own. Some of the best titles were produced during this time.
  1. Spider-Man: The Movie (Multi-platform)

    • The game based on the Spider-Man movie, simply titled "Spider-Man: The Movie," came out in 2002 and holds up pretty well to this day. It improved on previous titles by allowing Spidey to shoot webs while in the air, and featured interesting boss fights that required problem solving on the part of the player. All of Spidey's powers are used to good effect in this game, including his famed Spider Sense, which lights up the screen when a villain gets near. Tobey Maguire provides Spidey's voice, just as in the movie.

    Spider-Man 3 (DS game)

    • The Nintendo DS game was released in conjunction with the third Spider-Man movie in 2007. GameSpot gave good marks to this game for its use of the DS touch screen and ease of play. It also mentioned its excellent graphics and entertainment value, rating it one of the most fun Spidey games to play.

    Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Multi-platform)

    • Better reviewed than its sequel, "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" is a role-playing game that lets you play as some of your favorite characters. The roster includes Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, and more as you get deeper into the game. The team of heroes must stop Dr. Doom. The player is given the ability to customize all the characters' skill levels as their experience points go up, and the variety of environments keeps the game interesting.

    Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (Multi-platform)

    • "Web of Shadows," which came out in 2008, was hailed by GameSpot reviews as delivering "just about everything a Spider-Man game should." With a great storyline that involves you fighting off a massive symbiote invasion as everyone's favorite webslinger. A new option allows players to choose whether they are good Spidey or bad Spidey, and your costume grows lighter or darker depending on your choices. The game presents interesting boss fights and optional side quests that allow you to explore New York City.

    Shattered Dimensions

    • A new Spider-Man game, "Shattered Dimensions," is set to be released September 7, 2010, and is already garnering buzz.
