How to Escape the Cell on Metal Gear Solid

In Metal Gear Solid, a government operative code named "Snake" must stop a group of terrorists from deploying Metal Gear, a highly advanced nuclear war machine. As he travels throughout the icy Shadow Moses Island in an attempt to track down his foes, he'll meet with plenty of resistance, including sharpshooter Sniper Wolf. After being captured by Sniper Wolf's guards, Snake finds himself imprisoned in a cell. He must find a way out of his cell if he has any hope of continuing his mission. Two methods may be used to escape. Which one you choose has an effect on the ending you'll receive upon beating the game.

Instructions

Escape by Using Ketchup
- 1
  Call Otacon on your Codec device, then wait for him to arrive. He gives Snake two items: a bottle of ketchup and a scarf.

  Wait for the guard to go to the restroom. When he does, equip the ketchup. Snake splashes it around on the ground and lies down in it, playing dead.

  Knock the guard out when he returns and opens the door to see what happened to Snake. Exit the cell.
Escape by Hiding Under the Bed
- 4
  Wait for the guard to leave the room.
- 5
  Climb underneath the bed and wait for the guard to return and open the door.
- 6
  Come out from underneath the bed and knock out the guard, then exit the cell.
