How to Enter Cheats in Grand Theft Auto

The original Grand Theft Auto game debuted in 1997 and spawned a wildly popular series of sequels. Players control their character from a sky-view perspective and work to achieve points to move forward in the game. The story line surrounds a crook who commits various crimes around Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas. Much like other Grand Theft Auto games, the original Grand Theft Auto features racing elements as well as plenty of on-foot action. The challenge is to complete a number of offenses while staying off the radar of the local police.

  Enter the following combination on the main game menu to unlock the invincibility cheat: Square, Triangle, Circle, X, X, Circle, Triangle, Square.

  Choose to begin a new game, and open the player name screen. Enter a code from the existing list of cheat codes. For example, entering "MADEMAN" will unlock all game weapons and will give your player unlimited ammo, armor and a "get out of jail free" card. Enter the code "SKYBABIES" to unlock the ability to choose any level up to and including the "Mandarin Mayhem" level.

  Enter as many cheats as you'd like. To add multiple codes, enter and accept a code; then open the rename screen and enter another code. Repeat this as many times as you wish.

  Choose "Rename" one last time to change your character's name to your preferred title; then press "Start" to begin the game.
