How to Put PS1 Games Onto PS3

Like other home gaming consoles, the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) can play games designed for earlier versions of the system. Therefore, the PS3 can play both Playstation 2 and Playstation 1 games. To load a PS1 game onto your PS3, you'll use the "Playstation Store" shopping program that comes with every PS3.

Instructions

  Turn on your PS3. Select the "Playstation Store" option located in the "Playstation Network" section of the main menu.

  Select the "Browse Games" option on the Playstation Store main menu. You will see a list of PS2 and PS1 games.

  Select the PS1 game you want to download with the "X" button. Select the "Confirm Download" option to begin downloading the game. You will be prompted if you need to purchase Playstation Points to download the game. Your download will continue after you purchase the points.

  Press the "Circle" button repeatedly until you exit the Playstation Store and return to the main menu. If the download was successful, you should be able to play the game under the "Game" section of your PS3 main menu.
