How to Convert Playstation 1 to PC

The original PlayStation (sometimes referred to as the PlayStation 1, although its official title was simply "PlayStation") has one single audio/video connection hookup used to run the signal from the gaming device to a television. The cables used are RCA audio/video cables, and you can utilize the cables on any device with built-in RCA audio/video connections. This allows you to run the PlayStation to a computer, if the computer has a built-in (or external) TV tuner.

Install an external TV tuner card on your computer if no such card currently exists on the system. Such cards are found at most electronic and computer stores. Insert the USB cable running out the rear of the TV tuner card into one of the USB data ports on the computer. Once this is connected, insert the driver installation CD. Momentarily the driver installation wizard loads onto the screen. Click "Next" to the installation name and location, then choose "Install" to install the drivers." Eject the driver CD once the installation has finished and insert the software installation CD. The software installation wizard loads onto the screen. Accept the license agreement, follow the brief prompts of the setup and click "Install" to install the software.

Connect the provided RCA audio/video cables into the "Video Out" port located on the rear of the Sony PlayStation. The cables are circular red, white and yellow; make sure to match the color of the cables to the ports.

    • 3

Plug the free ends of the RCA audio/video cables into the "Video In" port on the TV tuner card. Make sure the colors of the cables match the same colors of the ports.

Power on the PlayStation, then launch the software installed with the TV tuner card (either double-click the desktop icon for the program or select "Start," "All Programs" and click the software tab"). The PlayStation game content appears on the screen. Use the screen as a standard television and play your video games over the computer.
