Things You'll Need
Instructions
Download a PlayStation emulator. There are a plethora of emulators available online, such as ePSXe, pSX, PSXeven, AndriPSX or Bleem. Most of these emulators are available free of charge. According to Emulator-zone.com, the best free PlayStation emulator is ePSXe. Be sure to also download any plug-ins applicable to your emulator as well as the PlayStation bios.
Install the emulator, plug-ins and bios. This will be a simple step-by-step procedure. Simply double click the .exe file representing your emulator, and follow the on-screen instructions. Be sure to put the emulator in a location where you can find it easily. Consider copying the emulator application to your desktop for easy access.
Insert the God of War disc into your computer's disk drive. Open your emulator application. If you have the emulator's plug-ins and PlayStation bios correctly installed, the emulator should effectively treat your disk drive like a PlayStation. Some emulators will start God of War automatically after inserting the disc. For other emulators, you may need to look around in the menus to find a "Run game" option.
Familiarize yourself with the features of your emulator. Many emulators include options that you wouldn't find if you were playing the game on an actual PlayStation console. You might be able to save your game progress at any point you wish. You also might have the options of speeding up or slowing down the game to help in difficult sections. Some emulators even let you upload high scores to an online database to compare with other players.
Enjoy playing God of War without a PlayStation. Note that depending on the specs of your computer, games may perform worse than they would on an actual console. Computers with fast processors and advanced graphics cards might provide a tangible performance increase, depending on your emulator software.
