How to Play Playstation 1 Games on a Playstation 2

The large majority of PlayStation 1 video games will play normally on the PlayStation 2 console. However, to save these games, you must have a PlayStation 1 memory card installed in the PlayStation 2. PlayStation 2 memory cards are not backward-compatible.

Instructions

      Insert the PlayStation 1 memory card into a memory card slot on the front of the PlayStation 2 console.

      Press the "On" button on the front of the console. The indicator light will turn green, and you will see the console splash screen on your TV.

      Press the "Open" button on the console front to open the disk holder tray.

      Place the PlayStation 1 game disk into the disk holder with the label facing up. Snap the disk onto the disk retention ring in the center of the disk holder tray. Be certain that all three tabs are above the disk surface to hold it securely.

      Close the disk holder tray. The game will now start.
