How to Start the Internet on Your PSP

The Playstation Portable (PSP) includes a built-in Wi-Fi adapter that you can use to connect to wireless Internet networks. Because the PSP does not include an Ethernet port, wired connections are not supported. Once connected to your wireless Internet network, the PSP will have access to online multiplayer games (in games that support the feature), downloadable content and streaming media courtesy of the Playstation Network.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the directional pad to scroll to the "Settings" icon on the PSP main menu (XMB). Press the "X" button to select "Network Settings."

    • 2

Select "Infrastructure Mode." Select "New Connection." Select "Scan." The PSP will begin scanning for wireless networks. Highlight the name of your wireless network and press the "X" button. Leave the default name and press the "Right" button on the directional pad.

    • 3

Enter your wireless network's password (if any) and press the "Right" button on the directional pad to continue. Select "Easy" as the Address Setting. Enter a name for the connection (this won't change the official name assigned by the router).

    • 4

Verify that the entered information is correct and press the "X" button to save the information. Select "Test Connection." The PSP will attempt to connect to your wireless network. If the test is successful, your PSP will be connected. If the test is unsuccessful, the most logical troubleshooting solutions will be displayed.
