Firmware is what runs many electronic devices, like Windows on a PC or OS X on a Mac. Custom firmware is created by independent developers, and will allow you to play independent games on the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Slim. The PSP Slim is a hand held video game device that was released in 2007 as the followup device to the original Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. Installing custom firmware on the Sony PSP Slim can be done with a service tool battery and Magic Memory Stick. The Magic Memory Stick holds the 3.95 firmware that is needed to install custom firmware, and is already there when you purchase it.
