How to Disassemble a PSP Joystick

The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) has a joystick that allows you to play your PSP games as if you were playing them with your PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 3 controller. Replacing the joystick is sometimes needed as the joystick becomes stuck or can even break. Opening the PSP is needed to replace the joystick, but Sony has made it very easy to open the device and replace its needed components.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the Sony PSP off and remove its battery from the rear of the device. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws from inside of the battery bay.

    • 2

Remove the two screws on the opposite side of the battery compartment. Remove the last screw from the bottom edge of the PSP.

    • 3

Gently lift the PSP's faceplate off to expose the inner workings of the PSP. Locate the joystick assembly on the left side of the PSP.

    • 4
