How to Fix Error Codes on PSP

The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a handheld video game console that is frequently updated by Sony. Sony updates the PSP's firmware, the software that runs the PSP, once about every quarter. These updates allow you to play newer games on the PSP. If you do not, you are presented with an error code that prevents you from playing the game.

Instructions

  Turn on your Sony PSP and select the "System Update" icon which is on the left side of the PSP's XcrossMediaBar "(XMB) menu. The XMB is another name for the PSP's main menu.

  Select "Update via Internet" and select the Internet connection that your PSP is connected to.

  Select "Yes" when asked if you agree to download the new PSP system firmware. Wait as the firmware is downloaded.

  Press the "X" button to begin the update process when the download reads "100%." Press the "X" button to reboot the PSP. Select the game from the PSP menu's game section to play. The error code will not appear and the game will start.
