Things You'll Need
Instructions
Power on your PSP Device. Plug the PSP into a wall charger.
Open the back panel of your PSP and remove the old battery. Insert the Pandora "tool" battery in the back of the device. Let the PSP charge for at least an hour.
Insert a memory stick in the PSP and connect the PSP and a computer with a USB cable.
Create a folder on your desktop called "Installer." Create a second folder called "Backup."
Download the TotalNewbi Easy Installer software to your computer (see Resources). Use a RAR archiving utility to extract the files from the Installer program to the "Installer" folder on your desktop.
Put the PSP in USB mode. Navigate to the PSP's "Settings" mode and select "USB Connection" from the top of the menu.
Open the "Memory Stick" folder in Windows Explorer. Copy all of the files, games, or anything on your PSP Memory stick to the "Backup" folder.
Open the "Installer" folder and run the "Start" program. This is your TotalNewbi installer. Press any key to continue when prompted. The system will tell you to format your memory stick before continuing.
Disconnect your PSP from USB mode by pressing the "Circle" button. Scroll down to "System Settings" and press "X." Select "Format Memory Stick" and press "X." Wait a few minutes while the memory stick formats itself.
Reconnect your PSP to the USB cable.
Open "My Computer" and look at the location of the Memory Stick under "Devices with Removable Storage." Record the drive letter (for example, "G") and return to the Pandora Start program.
Press "Enter" to indicate you have formatted the MemoryStick Duo media. When prompted, type in the drive letter for your PSP. Just type in "G" if that's the drive to which your PSP is connected. Press "Enter" twice. Wait for the installer to finish.
Press "Enter" when asked for a Volume Label. Press "Y" when prompted to format the data (again).
Remove the memory stick from the device.
Disconnect the PSP from the USB connection with the "circle" button.
Insert the memory stick and start USB mode when prompted by the TotalNewbi installer. Press any key to continue.
Select a Pandora Menu to install from the TotalNewbi EasyInstaller selections. The first option is ideal for "fat" PSP devices, and the third works well for PSP-slim models. The "Unbricker" software is for a situation where your PSP gets "bricked," or has a software breakdown. You can experiment with one of the other options if you like. Wait for the installer to finish.
Press "Y" when prompted. Your memory stick is now set up.
Power off the PSP device and unplug it from the charger and USB cord. Uncover the back panel.
Unplug the battery, and plug the PSP back in. The battery will power on the PSP device. Press "X" to start the installer. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation of your "Magic memory stick."
