Cannot Find Router
If your XLink cannot find the router, your router may not be running in XLink mode. You can determine this by checking the system's "Device Manager" under the "Advanced" tab for "XLink mode." If it is not enabled, enable it for your router. If it is not available, you will need to enable Promiscuous Mode on your router (see Resources).
Cannot Find Console
Often, if the XLink software on your computer cannot find your console (XBox, Playstation or Gamecube), it is because your console is not connected to your home network or there are no games currently set to "hosting." Verify that both your console and your computer are completely connected to the networks. You also can connect to the XLink chat and ask someone to host a game to which your console can connect. Your computer also may be running a firewall, which is blocking the console.
Configuration Failed
XLink software comes with a diagnostic tool, which you can run to help determine whether everything is working properly. If you receive "Configuration failed," it could be for a number of reasons. Try disabling DHCP on your router or setting a static IP for the console (see References).
General Troubleshooting
There are some other possible, less common errors on the network setup. To address these, Team XLink has developed an online troubleshooting tool that should handle the majority of your configuration errors (see Resources). If you still have further issues, the developers encourage you to contact them by forum post or email.
