PSP 1001 Specs

The Sony PSP 1001K was the original version of the PSP gaming system released in March 2005. The system runs games and applications from Universal Media Discs (UMDs), which are small discs enclosed in a plastic case. While the PSP 1001 has been replaced by newer models, it can still play any PSP game that comes on a UMD.
  1. Physical Attributes and Power

    • The PSP 1001K measures 6.7 inches long, 2.9 inches wide and 0.9 inches high. The device weighs in at 9.2 oz. The PSP comes with one 3.6-volt, 1800-mAh lithium-ion battery and a 100--240V, 50/60Hz external power adapter to recharge the battery.

    Processor and Memory

    • At the core of the PSP is a 128-bit 333MHz processor. The device also has 4MB of embedded DRAM cache memory, along with 32 MB of integrated main system memory.

    Display and Audio

    • The PSP 1001K features a 4.3-inch TFT LCD screen. The screen features a 16:9 aspect ratio and can display up to 16.7 million colors on 130,560 pixels at a resolution of 480 by 272. The PSP can process H.264/MPEG-4/AVC files on UMDs, along with MPEG-4 SP files on Memory Stick Duo cards. The PSP processes sound through its built-in stereo speakers and can handle Linear PCM, ATRAC3plus and MP3 audio files.

    Ports and Networking

    • The main input on the PSP 1001K is an integrated keypad on the face of the device. The PSP can also receive information from an infrared port and through an IEEE 802.11b wireless connection. The device has a headphone jack that can also double as a remote-control input, a mini-USB Type B port and a DC power jack.

    Accessories

    • In addition to the unit itself, the PSP 1001K comes with a hand strap, a carrying case, a USB cable and headphones, which include a remote control. The unit also comes with both a UMD demo you can play in the PSP and a 32MB Memory Stick Duo.
