Password Recovery for the PSP

The Sony PSP is the first handheld gaming console released by Sony Computer Entertainment. Since its release in March 2005, the Sony PSP has sold more than 50 million units worldwide. It boasts many robust features such as Wi-Fi and password support. Unfortunately the PSP lacks a password recovery module. However it is possible to reset the system password without losing any media files or saved games from the memory stick.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the PSP power slider into the "power" position. The LED should appear green, unless the power adapter is connected.

    • 2

Navigate to the "Settings" icon. A drop-down menu will appear.

    • 3

Scroll down to "System Settings" and press "X."

    • 4

Navigate to "Restore Default Settings." A dialog window will appear, select "Yes." By restoring the system settings to default, your passwords will be reset to "0000." The system will now reset.

    • 5

      Follow the on-screen setup instructions.

    • 6

Navigate to the "Settings" tab. A drop-down menu will appear. Scroll down to "Security Settings" then press "X."

    • 7

Select "Change Password." Enter a new password then click "OK."
