How to Troubleshoot a PSP Analog Stick

The PlayStation Portable, or PSP, is a hand-held gaming device created by Sony. The PSP uses an analog stick in addition to a directional keypad for gameplay. Sometimes, the analog stick will become unresponsive or will automatically rotate your character in one direction or the other. Fixing both of these problems is easy. You must make sure that the "Hold" switch on the side of your PSP is turned off. When "hold" is on, it prevents all PSP inputs from functioning.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the PSP. It can be powered with either the battery or the AC adapter.

    • 2

At the main menu, navigate to "Settings/System Settings" using the directional keys.

    • 3

Press "X" to enter into the system settings menu. When all of the system information is displayed, rotate the analog stick in a circular motion. This tells the PSP the full range of motion of the analog stick and will fix any "drifting" or "sticking" issues you may have with the analog stick.

    • 4

Turn off the PSP and power it back on. The analog stick should be functioning at full capacity.
