Things You'll Need
Instructions
Unscrew the five screws found on the cover of your PSP using the Phillips screwdriver. Two screws are beneath your battery cover, another two on the battery's opposite side and the last one on the PSP's bottom edge. Remove the battery pack to find the screws underneath it.
Detach the faceplate of your PSP by grabbing it from its front with one hand and its back with your other hand, then pulling it apart.
Go to the bottom side of your PSP faceplate and locate four tiny bronze rectangles that are lined up together. Get your damp cloth and use it to clean the rectangles. Wait for 30 seconds before wiping the area off with a dry cloth. Make sure that your cloth is just damp and there is no water dripping from it.
Remove the plastic piece used to cover the tiny bronze squares to the right of the thumbstick. Clean these with your damp cloth.
Replace the thumbstick if it's already broken underneath the faceplate. Pop it off using your flat-head screwdriver. Put back the battery pack into your PSP and reattach your PSP faceplate by screwing it back in place. Pop your new thumbstick onto the tab where the old one was located.
Turn on the PSP and check to see whether your joystick works.
