Purchase a memory card reader for the PSP from an electronics store or PSP manufacturer. Turn off the PSP and remove all peripheral devices. Take off the PSP faceplate using a Phillips screwdriver to remove the five screws.
Remove the liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. Use your finger to pull up the button on the bottom of the screen, to slide the LCD screen out. Unscrew the seven screws on the brace to remove the LCD screen.
Disconnect the cable running to the analog stick. Use the Phillips screwdriver to take out the screw on the analog stick and then remove the analog stick. Disconnect the cables to the UMD reader, the power supply and the antenna for the Wi-Fi.
Carefully remove the motherboard. Remove the screws to take out the metal casing to reveal the memory card reader. Lift out the memory card reader and replace it with the new memory card reader in the PSP. Reassemble the PSP by following steps 1 to 3 in reverse.
Turn on the PSP once you have reassembled it. Place a memory stick in the PSP to test the memory card reader.
