The Best Way to Fix Wlan Switch on PSP

Sony's PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a disc-based handheld gaming device featuring graphics reminiscent of the PlayStation 2. The PSP plays UMD movies, a variety of games and features built-in wireless support. Owners can flick a switch on the side of the device to activate wireless capabilities, thereby preserving battery life when the capabilities are not needed. Unfortunately, the WLAN switch often slips out of the track after a fall or severe jarring, requiring careful repairs for regained functionality.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any UMD disks or memory storage devices from your PSP.

    • 2

Remove the battery cover and battery from the device. Place these items off to the side in a safe place.

    • 3

Remove all four screws positioned under the battery. Place the screws in an upturned lid or small cup to avoid losing them.

    • 4

Remove the both screws positioned on the rear faceplate and any screws positioned along the upper edge. There are three different versions of the PSP, and there are slight differences in screw number and location in this regard.

    • 5

Pull the faceplate away from the main body with a gentle tug once all screws are removed. Place the faceplate on a soft towel to avoid scratching the surface.

    • 6

Look along the left edge of the unit for the WLAN switch. Use your screwdriver or a pair of tweezers to realign the switch into the track slot.

    • 7

Replace the faceplate, screws, battery and battery cover.

    • 8

Turn on your PSP and test the WLAN switch. If the switch lights up after being moved upward, your PSP's wireless capability is activated and functional.
