Insert the memory stick into the slot on the memory stick card reader. Insert the USB cable at the other end of the memory stick card reader into a USB port on the PC. Wait for the icon of the memory stick to appear on the desktop.
Download a PSP magic memory stick program to the PC̵7;s desktop, for example, the free Pandora eBoot program. Double-click on the file once downloaded to decompress it to a folder on the desktop.
Click ̶0;Start,̶1; ̶0;My Computer,̶1; and ̶0;Devices.̶1; Right-click on the icon of the memory stick that is in the middle of the column that appears. Select ̶0;Properties̶1; from the pop-up window. Make a note of the drive letter assigned to the memory stick that is listed in the window that appears. Click the red ̶0;X̶1; button in the upper left corner to close the window. Close the window that is still open on the desktop by clicking its red ̶0;X̶1; button.
Click ̶0;Start,̶1; and ̶0;Run̶1; to bring up a window. Enter ̶0;cmd̶1; without the quotes in the text column of the window. Press the ̶0;enter̶1; key. Enter ̶0;pandora̶1; without the quotes in the text column of the window. Press the ̶0;Enter̶1; key. Enter ̶0;cd nspformat̶1; without the quotes in the text column of the window. Press the ̶0;Enter̶1; key. Enter ̶0;nspformat x̶1; without the quotes in the text column of the window where ̶0;X̶1; is the drive letter for the memory stick. Press the ̶0;Enter̶1; key.
Press the ̶0;Y̶1; key when prompted to do so by the text in the window. Press the ̶0;Enter̶1; key. Wait as the memory stick is formatted and prepared for accepting the magic memory stick program. Close the window when the text says it is finished by clicking on the red ̶0;X̶1; in the upper right corner.
Click on the desktop. Double-click on the icon of the memory stick to open its window on the desktop. Right-click inside the window. Select ̶0;New folder̶1; from the ̶0;New̶1; drop-down menu. Name the folder ̶0;PSP.̶1; Right-click inside the ̶0;PSP̶1; folder. Select ̶0;New folder̶1; from the ̶0;New̶1; drop-down menu. Name the folder ̶0;GAME.̶1;
Double-click on the PSP magic memory stick program̵7;s folder that is on the desktop to open its window. Drag all of the folders that are inside of the window onto the memory stick̵7;s ̶0;GAME̶1; folder. Wait as a copy progress bar appears, fills in from right to left and disappears. Click the red ̶0;X̶1; in the upper right corner of the PSP magic memory stick program̵7;s folder to close it.
Double-click on the ̶0;Update.PSP̶1; folder that is now inside of the memory stick folder̵7;s window. Rename the ̶0;EBOOT.PBP̶1; file that is inside of the window to ̶0;UPDATE PBP.̶1; Right-click on the icon of the memory stick on the desktop. Select ̶0;Eject̶1; from the pop-up menu. Remove the memory stick from the slot in the memory stick card reader.
Insert the memory stick into the memory stick slot on the PSP. Turn the PSP on. Navigate to the ̶0;Settings̶1; icon. Select ̶0;USB mode̶1; from beneath ̶0;Settings.̶1; Connect the PSP connector on the PSP cable to the PSP. Connect the other end to a USB port on the PC.
Go to ̵6;Video settings̶1; beneath ̶0;Settings̶1; on the PSP. Select the icon of the memory stick that is beneath ̶0;Video Settings. Select the PSP magic memory stick program that is to the right of ̶0;Video Settings.̶1; Press the ̶0;X̶1; button on the PSP to run the program. Press the ̶0;X̶1; button when the text on the screen says that the program is finished. Navigate to ̶0;Settings,̶1; and select ̶0;USB mode̶1; again.
Double-click on the icon of the memory stick that is on the desktop to open its window. Double-click on the PSP magic memory stick program̵7;s folder to open its window. Double-click on the ̶0;msmst̶1; folder inside of the PSP magic memory stick program̵7;s folder to open its window.
Drag the ̶0;mspl.bin̶1; file from within the memory stick̵7;s window into the ̶0;msmst̶1; folder. Wait as a copy progress bar appears, fills in from right to left and disappears.
Navigate back to the Home menu on the PSP. Turn the PSP off. Remove the memory stick from the PSP. Insert the memory stick into the slot on the memory stick card reader. Insert the USB cable at the other end of the memory stick card reader into a USB port on the PC. Wait for the icon of the memory stick to appear on the desktop.
Click ̶0;Start,̶1; and ̶0;Run̶1; to bring up a window on the PC. Enter ̶0;cd C;\̶1; without the quotes in the text column of the window. Press the ̶0;Enter̶1; key. Enter ̶0;cd pandora̶1; without the quotes in the text column of the window. Press the ̶0;Enter̶1; key. Enter ̶0;cd nsinst̶1; without the quotes in the text column of the window. Press the ̶0;Enter̶1; key.
Enter ̶0;nsinst x nsip̶1; without the quotes in the text column of the window where ̶0;X̶1; is the drive letter for the memory stick. Press the ̶0;Enter̶1; key.
Wait for the text in the window to say that the process for making the memory stick into a magic memory stick is completed. Close the window by clicking the red ̶0;X̶1; in the upper right corner. Right-click on the icon of the memory stick that is now a magic memory stick on the desktop. Select ̶0;Eject̶1; from the pop-up menu. Remove the magic memory stick from the slot in the memory stick card reader. Remove the memory stick card reader̵7;s USB cable from the USB port of the PC.
