Transfer Music With Audio Editing Program
Download and install an audio editing program to the PC's desktop, for example, the free Audacity program or the trial version of FlexiMusic Wave Editor (see Resources). Restart the PC after the installation is completed.
Insert the PSP's memory card into the slot on the memory card reader. Plug the memory card reader's USB cable into a USB port on a PC. Wait for the icon of the PSP's memory card to appear on the desktop.
Launch the audio editing program by selecting it from the "Start," "All Applications" pop-up menu. Drag the music file that is to be converted for use with the PSP into the icon of the audio editing program--the icon is in the Toolbar at the bottom right of the screen.
Go to "File" and select "Save as a MP3" from the drop down menu. Navigate in the window that appears to the desktop of the PC. Double-click on the icon of the folder that is presented in the center column of the window. Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the window.
Quit the audio editing program once the window disappears. Right-click on the icon of the PSP's memory card that is on the desktop. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu. Remove the memory card reader's USB cable from the USB port of the PC. Remove the PSP's memory card from the slot in the memory card reader.
Transfer Music With Audio Conversion Website
Insert the PSP's memory card into the slot on the memory card reader. Plug the memory card reader's USB cable into a USB port on a PC. Wait for the icon of the PSP's memory card to appear on the desktop.
Go to a free audio conversion website, for example, the media converter website (see Resources). Click on the "Upload link" button on the web page. Navigate in the window that appears to the music file that is to be transferred to the PSP. Double-click on the music file to close the window.
Click the "Next" button on the web page to go to a new web page. Select "MP3" from the "Format" or "Format type" drop down menu. Click the "Next" button to go to a new web page.
Click the "Browse" button next to the "Destinations" or "File Output" tab. Navigate in the window that appears to the desktop of the PC. Double-click on the icon of the PSP's memory card to close the window and return to the web page.
Click the "Next" button to go to a new web page. Click the "Convert" or "Start" button on the web page. Wait as a progress bar appears on the web page and fills in from left to right. Click on "Done" "Finished" when the progress bar has completely filled in.
Right-click on the icon of the PSP's memory card that is on the desktop. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu. Remove the memory card reader's USB cable from the USB port of the PC. Remove the PSP's memory card from the slot in the memory card reader.
Transfer Music With PSP Conversion Program
Download and install a PSP conversion program to the PC's desktop, for example, the free trial version of PSP Video Converter or free trial version of PSP Music Converter (see Resources). Restart the PC after the installation is completed.
Insert the PSP's memory card into the slot on the memory card reader. Plug the memory card reader's USB cable into a USB port on a PC. Wait for the icon of the PSP's memory card to appear on the desktop.
Launch the PSP conversion program by selecting it from the "Start," "All Applications" pop-up menu. Drag the music file that is to be converted for use with the PSP into the icon of the PSP conversion program--the icon is in the Toolbar at the bottom right of the screen.
Click on the music file in the left column of the PSP conversion program's main screen. Select "MP3" or "MP3-PSP" from the "Format type" or "Format" drop down menu on the PSP conversion program's main screen.
Click on the "Browse" button next to the "Destinations" or "File output" tab on the PSP conversion program's main screen. Navigate in the window that appears to the PC's desktop. Double-click on the PSP memory card's icon to close the window.
Click on the "Start" or "Convert" button on the PSP conversion program's main screen. Wait as a progress bar at the bottom of the screen fills in from left to right. Quit the PSP conversion program once the progress bar has completely filled in.
Right-click on the icon of the PSP's memory card that is on the desktop. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu. Remove the memory card reader's USB cable from the USB port of the PC. Remove the PSP's memory card from the slot in the memory card reader.
