How to Unbrick a PSP Slim With a Pandora Battery

The Sony PSP, or PlayStation Portable, can malfunction and break like any other device. This usually occurs when you are installing a firmware update or custom firmware. If done incorrectly, the PSP will shut off and not turn back on. This is called a bricked device. You need to use a special battery, known as the Pandora battery, to unbrick your PSP Slim. The battery places the PSP Slim into service mode where the new firmware can be reinstalled properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the battery and memory stick from the PSP. Insert the Magic memory stick into the PSP card reader.

    • 2

Insert the Pandora battery. Hold the "L" trigger on the PSP and turn on the PSP. The PSP is now in service mode and you will see the Pandora menu.

    • 3

Select "Install CFW" from the Pandora menu. Select "Yes" to verify your selection and your PSP Slim will be unbricked.

    • 4

Press the "X" button to shut down the PSP. Remove the Pandora battery and Magic memory stick. Reinsert the normal ones that were removed in Step 1. Turn your PSP Slim back on and it should now be working.
