How to Make a Magic Memory Stick for PSP 1000

The PlayStation Portable 1000 (PSP) can be modified so that its operating system will do things that Sony never intended, such as downloading videos and playing games created by PSP enthusiasts. You can make a ̶0;magic memory stick̶1; by putting special PSP programs created by PSP enthusiasts onto the PSP memory stick that will enable the PSP to be modified. These PSP programs are free of cost and work in an intuitive manner that makes them suitable for use by computer novices as well as the more experienced. You will also need a USB memory stick reader in order to connect the PSP memory stick to the USB port of the computer.

Instructions

  Download a magic memory stick program to your PC̵7;s desktop (see Resources). Double-click on the file once it has downloaded to decompress it to a folder on the desktop.

  Insert the memory stick into the slot in the USB memory stick reader. Plug the memory stick reader̵7;s USB cable into a USB port on the PC. Wait for the icon of the memory stick to appear on the desktop. Double-click on the icon of the memory stick to open its window on the desktop. Drag any files from inside of the window to the Trash. Right-click on the Trash icon. Select ̶0;Delete.̶1; Close the memory stick̵7;s window by clicking the red ̶0;X̶1; in the upper right corner.

  Double-click on the Magic memory stick program̵7;s folder to open its window on the desktop. Select the single file from within the folder. Drag the file to the desktop. Wait as a copy progress bar fills in from left to right and then disappears. Double-click on the single program that is inside of the window to launch it.

  Follow the menu commands in the windows that appear to accept the use of the magic memory stick program. Select ̶0;Desktop̶1; from the ̶0;Destinations̶1; tab drop down menu in the window that appears.

  Press the ̶0;Finish̶1; button on the window that appears after a copy progress bar has filled in from left to right and then disappeared.

  Double-click on the folder in the magic memory stick program̵7;s window. Drag the three files from within the folder onto the icon of the memory stick. Wait as a copy progress bar fills in from left to right and then disappears.

  Select the ̶0;Merge̶1; button on the window of the program that is still running. Wait as a copy progress bar fills in from left to right and then disappears.

  Check the ̶0;None̶1; checkbox on the window that appears. Select the memory stick from the ̶0;PSP Memory Stick̶1; drop down menu. Click on the ̶0;Inject IPL Only̶1; button. Wait as a dialogue box appears and fills with text. Click the ̶0;OK̶1; button on the dialogue box when it is no longer dimmed.

  Right-click on the memory stick̵7;s icon. Select ̶0;Eject̶1; from the pop-up menu. Remove the memory stick that is now a magic memory stick from the slot in the USB memory stick reader. Remove the USB cable of the memory stick reader from the USB port of the PC.
