How Do I Fix My Cracked PSP LCD Screen?

The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) comes with a large LCD screen as its display. It allows you to play movies and games from the display in a way that not many portable devices can top. With the good, however, comes the not so good. Because the screen is larger and is commonly placed into pockets and backpacks, there is a much higher propensity to crack the screen inadvertently. Sony has made it easy to fix this problem with a easy LCD screen removal method.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the battery from the PSP battery bay to reveal four small screws. Remove these screws with the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the two screws on the opposite end of the battery bay and the final screw on the bottom edge of the PSP.

    • 2

Gently lift the PSP faceplate off of the device to reveal the inner components. This will give you access to the screen. Insert your flathead screwdriver in between the screen bracket and the screen. Twist very gently to pop out the bracket tabs and the screen will pop out.

    • 3

Fold the screen down to see the two cables connected to the PSP. Pop up the tabs on the cables and pull them out gently. Remove the screen. Place the new PSP screen in the same position that you had the old one folded down. Connect the screen cables into the PSP and fold it up and into the PSP screen bracket.

Reattach the faceplate to the PSP and tighten the seven screws firmly, securing the faceplate. Place the battery back into the PSP.
