How to Create a Magic Memory Stick for the PSP

A Magic Memory Stick (MMS) is a tool used with the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) to install custom firmware. Custom firmware supplies your PSP with extra features, such as playing full disc-based games off of the memory stick. Formerly, you could only create an MMS with a PSP already running custom firmware. Thanks to the release of a single software program, however, you can now make an MMS with your computer.

  • Rain&'s MMS Maker
  • USB cable
  • Sony PSP
  • 500.PBP file

Instructions

    • 1

      Download the 500.PBP PSP file onto your computer and save it to your desktop. Download and install Rain&'s MMS Maker onto your computer (see the Resources section below for links to both downloads).

      Connect the PSP to your computer with a USB cord. Select "USB Connection" from the PSP main menu. Your computer can now access your PSP memory stick.

      Open Rain&'s MMS Maker and click "Make MMS" from the main menu. Wait as your PSP memory stick is converted to a Magic Memory Stick.

      Press the "O" button on the PSP to safely disconnect it from your computer.
