Homemade PSP WiFi Antenna

The Playstation Portable (PSP) handheld gaming system has an internal Wi-Fi antenna. However, you may find this standard Wi-Fi antenna, with its compact design, to be inadequate for your needs. To boost the performance of your PSP&'s Wi-Fi capability, you can purchase an external antenna--or you can create your own homemade PSP Wi-Fi antenna with a few simple tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 12-inch section of copper wire using wire clippers. Wrap the copper wire around your wrist, forming it into a circle, and then twisting the lengths of the ends together multiple times.

    • 2

Attach the copper wire to the back side of the PSP system with electrical tape. Wrap the twisted ends around to the bottom of the PSP and connect them to the metal sides of the USB port. Note that you can disassemble your PSP and connect the copper wire directly to the included Wi-Fi antenna, but this voids your warranty and the connection through the USB works the same.

Switch on the PSP and choose "Settings" and "Wi-Fi." Choose "Search" and allow the system to locate the wireless networks. Check the "System Strength" on the right and ensure that it is above 30 percent. Enjoy the stronger wireless capability of your PSP.
