How to Open a PSP Slim Battery

Open your PSP Slim battery to modify the battery or fix any problems that are occurring. The PSP Slim, or PlayStation Portable Slim, is a gaming system made by Sony. It supports gaming, media files and Internet access. You may want to modify your PSP Slim battery to unlock your PSP and install custom firmware. Opening the PSP Slim battery is quick and straightforward.

  Remove the PSP Slim battery from the PSP. The battery is located on the back of the PSP. Simply slide off the battery cover and lift up and out to remove the Slim battery.

  Place the battery on a clean and flat surface. Take care to keep the battery clean of all substances during the removal process.

  Place the tip of the flat-head screwdriver in the groove of the PSP Slim battery. The groove separates the top from the bottom of the battery. Make sure to gently place the tip of the flat-head in between the groove while taking care not to shove it in the battery. Shoving the screwdriver in the battery will damage it.

  Pull up on the top of the battery while sliding the screwdriver around the groove of the PSP Slim battery. The top and bottom should separate. You’ll hear a slight clicking sound when they separate.

  Pull the top of the battery from the bottom of the battery. Make sure to be gentle so that you don’t damage anything within the battery.
