How to Convert Windows Media Player Videos to PSP

If you have some Windows Media Player video files in the WMV file format, those files will not play on your portable PSP device. This is because the PSP file format is MP4. While Windows Media Player does not support file conversion to the PSP file format, there are other ways that you can convert your WMV files to PSP compatible MP4 files. There are both free conversion tools and conversion tools that you must purchase. There are also conversion tools that convert only one file at a time and multiple files at a time.

Instructions

Visit the Media-Convert website (see Resources) to convert your Windows Media Player video files to PSP format online. Media-Convert is a free online conversion tool that converts you file while you wait. Conversion typically takes less than 10 minutes and you are presented with a link to download your new file when it is converted.

Download and install the AVS Video Converter from the AVS 4 You website (see Resources) if you want a free program that can convert multiple files at the same time. Just add your WMV files, select PSP as your output file type and convert. Conversion time depends on the number of files you convert.

Install the OJOsoft Total Video Converter from the OJOsoft website (see Resources) if you want to purchase a conversion program that allows you to convert many other file types in the future. As of June 2010, the cost is $26.95 but it does come with a free trial where you are limited in how much of a file you can convert. If you are unsure, you can use the trial to try it out before you buy. Conversion time depends on the number of files you convert.
