How to Expand PSP Memory

The PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a hand-held gaming device created by Sony. The system has on-board memory for saving movies, music, pictures and game-save states. However, these items are very memory intensive and may fill up your system’s memory rapidly. In order to expand the amount of memory your PSP has, you will need to purchase a PSP memory stick. The PSP memory sticks you purchase from Sony are Micro M2 cards that come with a PSP M2 Duo adapter. Once you have a PSP M2 Duo, you can fit any Micro M2 card into your PSP for expanded memory.

Instructions

Insert the Micro M2 card into the M2 Duo Adapter. The side card connectors should be facing outward.

    • 2

Open the memory slot cover on your PSP. On older PSP models, this will be located on the bottom, left-hand side toward the back. On newer PSP models, this will be a cover that pulls straight outward on the left side of the system.

Insert the PSP M2 Duo Adapter into the PSP memory slot until you feel it click securely. With the older PSP model, the printed side of the PSP M2 Duo Adapter should be facing the back of the system. With the newer PSP models, the printed side of the PSP M2 Duo Adapter should be facing the front of the system.

Close the memory slot cover on your PSP and turn the system on. The system should now detect the memory stick and allow you to use the expanded memory to save files and games.
