Things You'll Need
Instructions
Remove the battery from your PSP.
Locate the slightly indented line that goes entirely around the perimeter of the battery. This is where the two halves are connected and where you will need to cut.
Score around the sides of the battery along the indented line with the knife. Do not apply too much pressure, but be sure to apply enough force to cut a small line in the plastic. Continue multiple times, cutting deeper with each pass until you can feel that you have broken through the plastic casing.
Insert the screwdriver into one of the long sides of the battery just deep enough to separate the plastic. Be careful not to insert the screwdriver too deep so you don't touch the circuit board or inner components of the battery.
Use a small, non-conductive item such as a guitar pick to gently pry the case open. If the case still seems difficult to open, you may need to score the sides some more.
Remove one side of the battery casing and unfold the circuit board.
Locate the connector labeled ICO4 or CO4, depending on your model of battery.
Carefully remove the fifth pin. With the connector label ICO4 or CO4 facing you, the pins start from the bottom left and up. So Pin 5 would be at the bottom on the right side as in this diagram:
ICO4 -OR CO4
If you don't want to remove the fifth pin, you can locate Pin 5 on the connector and follow the silver line from the the pin on the circuit board. Locate a good place to break the connection. Using your knife, make a small cut across that silver line in. Make sure that it is deep enough to sever the strip, but not too deep as to damage the circuit board.
Fold the circuit board back into position and put the two halves back together using the adhesive tape.
