Features
The PSP 3000's screen features an increased color range with the highest contrast ratio of any PSP, and an anti-reflection coating to improve gaming outdoors. The disc tray on the PSP 3000 was redesigned to decrease the system's overall weight. Internally, the PSP 3000 features improvements made with the 2000 model, namely a brighter LCD for the display and an increased 64 MB of RAM for faster game loading.
Gaming
Like previous models of the Playstation Portable, the PSP 3000 supports the Universal Media Disc format for games and movies. For gamers wishing to take their game library on the go without having to carry UMDs, the PSP 3000 is capable of storing games on the system's removable memory stick. Due to improvements made with the buttons--in particular, the directional pad--the PSP 3000 is more responsive when playing games requiring high levels of control, such as fighting games. Earlier PSP models were criticized for the unresponsive and soft direction pad, and the PSP 3000 was designed to eliminate that concern.
Entertainment Media
In addition to UMD movies, the PSP 3000 supports numerous video and audio formats that are accessible once they are transferred to the system's memory stick through a PC connection. Also, due to the PSP 3000's capability to connect to a high-definition television through a component-out function, all content stored on the hand-held can be viewed on an HDTV via a cable that is sold separately.
Internet Connectivity
With a wireless Internet connection, PSP 3000 owners can browse websites, listen to Internet radio and communicate with others through Skype (using the 3000's built-in microphone). The 3000's improved wireless adaptor increases the reliability of any connection that is made. The PSP 3000 can also be connected to the Playstation Network. Gamers with access to the Playstation Network can download demos, full games, video content, game soundtracks and digital comics through the Playstation Store.
Bundles
The PSP 3000 introduced an initiative to create consumer bundle "Entertainment Packs," which combine PSP 3000 consoles with games, accessories and movies to appeal to a wide range of potential customers. At the system's initial launch, a "Ratchet and Clank" bundle was available featuring "Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters," a 1 GB memory stick and a "National Treasure 2" UMD. Since the PSP 3000's release, there have been five other "Entertainment Pack" bundles: the "Rock Band: Unplugged" pack, the "Hannah Montana" pack, the "Gran Turismo" pack, the "Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines" pack and the "Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker" pack.
