Using Handbrake
Download the two free programs needed to rip your DVDs, VLC and Handbrake (see Resources). Install the two programs as directed.
Place the DVD you want to rip in your disk drive and open Handbrake. Click the button labeled "source" in the upper-left corner. Select the disk you wish to rip.
Click the button in the upper-right labeled "toggle presets." From the menu opened to the right, select "iPhone and iPod Touch." Make sure the drop-down menus for format and codec are set to "MP4."
Using PSP Movie Creator
Download PSP Movie Creator and install (Windows only).
Insert the DVD you want to rip. Set the movie quality you want, keeping in mind the higher the quality the larger the file will be.
To start ripping the DVD, click on the button labeled "Record It."
Using Smart Ripper/PSP Video 9
Download Smart Ripper and install (Windows only).
Insert the DVD you wish to rip. Open SmartRipper and select the tab labeled "Stream Processing." Click on "Enable Stream Processing."
Leave the audio and subtitle languages you would like to rip, leaving all others unchecked.
Name the file by clicking on the folder icon at the bottom of the screen. Click the start button to begin the ripping process.
Open PSP Video 9. Select convert and then convert new video. Select the file ripped in SmartRipper.
Transferring Files
Once the file is done ripping, connect your PSP to the computer via a mini-USB cable. Make sure your memory card is in the the PSP. Turn on the PSP. Select the system settings menu on the far left, then select connect via USB.

Open the memory stick icon on your computer as if it were a jump drive. Open the Movies folder. Drag the video file into the Movies folder. Disconnect the memory stick by using the "safely remove hardware" option in Windows or ejecting the disk on a Mac.
