How to Make a Magic Memory Stick Download

The PlayStation Portable can be modified through software downloaded onto a computer and transferred to a memory card. The memory card becomes a "magic memory stick" that alters the PSP's operating system once inserted into the game machine's memory card slot in conjunction with the use of a special battery. There are a number of free magic memory stick installation programs created by PSP enthusiasts that can be download and copied to the memory card. The downloads will not cause any harm to the computer or to the memory card itself.

PSP 1 GB memory card

Instructions

  Download and install a decompression program to the computer's desktop. Restart the PC after the installation is complete.

  Insert the PSP memory card into the slot in the memory card reader.

  Plug the memory card reader's USB cable into a USB port on the computer. Wait for the icon of the PSP memory card to appear on the desktop.

  Double-click on the icon of the PSP memory card to open its window. Drag any contents inside of the window to the Trash icon. Right-click on the Trash icon. Select "Empty the trash."

  Close the PSP memory card's window by clicking the red "X" in the window's upper right corner.

  Download a free magic memory stick installation program to the computer's desktop.

  Double-click on the icon of the decompression program on the desktop to launch it.

  Drag the magic memory stick installation file onto the decompression program's main screen.

  Click the "Output" or "Save To" tab on the decompression program's main screen. Navigate in the window to the desktop. Click the "Open" button.

  Click the "Start" or "Go" button on the decompression program's main screen.

  Quit the decompression program once a magic memory stick installation folder has been saved on the desktop.

  Double-click on the icon of the magic memory stick installation folder on the desktop to open its window. Highlight those files that are in the window.

  Drag the files from the magic memory stick installation folder onto the icon of the memory card. Wait for the files to copy to the memory card.

  Double-click on the icon of the PSP Grader folder that is inside of the magic memory stick installation folder.

  Double-click on the PSP Grader icon inside of the window that appears. Wait until an icon of a PSP appears on the desktop.

  Double-click on the icon of the PSP to launch a program. Select the memory stick from the "Devices" drop-down menu on the program's main screen.

  Click on the "Inject IPL only" button. Press the "OK" button when the scrolling lines on the window that appears cease to scroll.

  Right-click on the icon of the PSP memory card. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu.

  Remove the USB cable from the USB port of the computer. Remove the PSP memory card that is now a magic memory stick from the slot in the memory card reader. The magic memory stick is ready to be used with a PSP.
