How to Connect a PSP to a Laptop to Play Games

Sony's PSP, short for PlayStation Portable, is a handheld gaming system. One of its dozens of features allows you to connect your PSP to a laptop to play, and all you have to do is download two programs. Doing this will allow you to have a much bigger screen that may give you a big advantage in games. Depending on the game, the resolution on the laptop screen might be too big and cause your game to be blurry but playable.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the two programs you will need. Go to mediafire.com to download the Type B driver and go to psp-hacks.com to download the Remote Joy Lite. (See Resource section.) The driver will allow your computer to read the PSP and display the picture on the screen.

Plug the big end of a USB cord into the laptop and put the small end into the PSP. Turn on your PSP and activate USB mode. Do this by scrolling all the way left to the "Settings" menu, then all the way up to "USB," then hit "X" to connect to the computer.

    • 3

Click on the folder to which Remote Joy Lite was downloaded and copy the Remote Joy Lite.prx file from it to the "SEPLUGINS" folder on your PSP. Open up the "VSH" file in the "SEPLUGINS" folder; if you don't have one, you can create one using notepad or a different Word document. Add this line into the file and save it: ms0:/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx.

    • 4

Open up the "GAME" folder on your PSP and find the second "VSH" file and copy this line in again: ms0:/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx. Both "VSH" files will have the same line of text in them.

    • 5

Disconnect your PSP from your computer and shut the PSP down. Turn it back on and right when you do hold down the right shoulder button. That's the button on the top right corner of the PSP. This will turn your PSP on in recovery mode.

    • 6

Scroll down to the plug-ins option and select it. Make sure the three options that say "Remote Joy Lite" are all running. Save the changes and shut down the PSP.

    • 7

Plug your PSP back into your laptop and find the folder you downloaded that has the Remote Joy Lite.exe program. When you open the .exe file, turn on your PSP and your PSP will be displayed on your laptop.
