Using the PSN Store
Turn on your Sony PSP and select the PSN Store icon from the PSP menu. The icon is located on the far right-side of the menu. The PSN Store will load up and you will see the store main menu.
Select the "Games" section to browse the large list of PSP titles. Select one to see more information. This will include the price of the game as well.
Select "Add to cart" when you have found a title that you want to purchase. If this is the only game you will be getting, select "Checkout." If not, go on and select more games and add them to your cart. Select "Checkout" when you are ready to complete the game purchase.
Enter in your credit card information or your PlayStation Points card information to complete the purchase. Your game will be downloaded onto your PSP and automatically installed. Press the "O" button twice to be brought back to the PSP main menu.
Browse the PSP menu and you will see the new games that you just downloaded. Select one with the "X" button to begin playing it.
Using UMD Games
Turn on your PSP and slide the release latch to the right to open the PSP UMD drive door.
Insert the UMD into the UMD drive with the label facing out. Close the door by pressing it shut.
Go to the game section on the PSP main menu and you will see a UMD icon. Select it and your game will start.
Playing Homebrew Games
Turn off your PSP and remove the battery and memory stick from the device. Insert the Magic memory stick and Pandora battery into the PSP and it will turn on. Press the "X" button twice to install custom firmware. Press the "X" button again to shut it down. Reinsert the normal battery and memory stick into the PSP. Turn the PSP back on.
Connect the PSP to your computer with the USB cable. Select "USB Connection" from the PSP main menu and a window will appear on the computer screen. Click "View Files" on the computer. You will see the files and folders on your PSP memory stick.
Download one of the homebrew games from the link in the resource section. These are all free games and are legal. Right-click the file after it has finished downloading and click "Copy."
Open the "PSP" folder on the PSP memory stick and right-click the "GAME" folder. Click "Paste" to transfer the game to the PSP memory stick. Press the "O" button to disconnect the PSP safely from the computer after the transfer completes.
Navigate through the PSP menu, into the game section. You will see the game that you just installed on the PSP memory stick. Select it with the "X" button to begin playing the game.
