How to Put a GBA Emulator on a PSP

The Sony PSP is a portable video game device released in 2005. By 2009 it had sold over fifty million units. This worldwide popularity and stellar performance have attracted the attention of many independent developers. Along with many great applications, these developers have created emulators for the PSP. Emulators allow you to play classic consoles such as the Nintendo64, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis and Gameboy Advance (GBA).

Things You'll Need

Magic Memory stick
Pandora battery
USB cable

Instructions

  Turn off your PSP and remove the battery and memory stick. Insert the magic memory stick and Pandora battery. The PSP will turn on on its own. Press the "X" button twice to install the custom firmware. Press the "X" button again to shutoff the PSP when the install completes. Reinsert the normal battery and memory stick into the PSP and turn it back on.

  Connect the PSP to your computer with the USB cable and it will automatically go into USB mode. A window will appear on your computer, and you will see the files and folders on the PSP memory stick.

  Download the GBA emulator (gPSP) from the resource section of this guide. When the file has finished downloading, right-click it and click "Copy." Go into the PSP memory stick and open the "PSP" folder.

  Right-click the "GAME" folder inside the "PSP" folder and click "Paste." This will transfer and install the emulator onto the PSP memory stick. Press the "O" button on the PSP to disconnect the PSP safely from the computer.

  Browse through the PSP menu until you reach the game section. You will see your emulator there. Select it to play.
