Instructions

    • 1

Download Shine's savedata tool. Unzip and highlight all decompressed files. Right-click and select "Copy."

    • 2

Connect your PSP to the USB port of your PC. Turn the system on and select "USB Connect" from the System tab of the main menu.

    • 3

Navigate to the root directory of your PSP, which will show up in "My Computer" as PSP or Memory Stick. Open the "PSP/Game" folder, right-click and select "Paste."

    • 4

Return to the PSP directory and enter the "SAVEDATA" folder. Peruse the folder in this file, checking the "icon0.PNG" files in each directory. When you find a folder whose "icon0.PNG" file is the logo for the "Madden" game you wish to edit, highlight this folder's name and select "Copy."

    • 5

Create a new text document, right-click and select "Paste" to place the name of the folder within the text document. Add a line break after the first nine characters of the folder name, then another line break at the end of the folder name, ending with the text "DATA.BIN." For example, the folder for "Madden 06" is called "ULUS100240018," so the text file for this game should read:

      "ULUS10024
      0018
      DATA.BIN"

Save this game to the root directory of your PSP using the file name "savename.TXT."

    • 6

Eject and remove your PSP and restart the system. Select "Shine's Savedata Tool" from the Game tab of the PSP's menu. Press "X" to save an editable version of the "Madden" Data.BIN file to your PSP's root directory.

    • 7

Reconnect your PSP to your computer using the USB cable. Turn the system on and select "USB Connect" from the System menu.

    • 8

Navigate to the root directory, where the newly-saved "Data.BIN" file will now be visible. Use a hex editor such as Hexedit or HxD to open the game savedata by right-clicking on the "Data.BIN" file and selecting "Open With..." then navigating to your hex editor of choice.

    • 9

Use your hex editing program to peruse the data file and change any data or options you wish. This should not be attempted without a knowledge of hex code, as incorrectly edited data can cause problems when running the game. When you are done, save the data, then eject and remove your PSP.

    • 10

Turn on the console and start Shine's Savedata Tool again. This time, press "O" to patch the "Data.BIN" file to the save data for your game of "Madden."

    • 11

Reset the console and insert the "Madden" game disc to play, using your edited data.
