Switch on your PSP and locate the wireless network adapter button on the lower left section of the PSP, close to the analog stick. Push up to switch on the wireless adapter. It will automatically begin detecting nearby wireless networks.
Push the "Home" button and enter the home menu. Scroll down with the cursor to the "Network Settings" option and press the "X" button. Press the "X" button again and choose the "Infrastructure" option for your network. Push the "O" button to navigate to the previous screen.
Scroll to "New Connection" until it is highlighted and push the "X" button. Push "X" and type a name for the connection--perhaps "Home" or "Coffee Shop" depending on where you are going online. Push the "X" button to confirm the name and then scroll to "Scan for WLAN" for the setting. Push down the "right" arrow on the directional pad to scan for new networks.
Use the directional pad to choose the network you're looking for once the PSP has scanned for available networks. Push the "X" button to select the network you want and navigate to "Security Settings." Use the directional pad to find the "WEP" option and "X" to choose "WEP."
Locate the "WEP" code for the network, which usually can be found on the wireless router under "WEP." Public places usually have a password for customers.
Type the "WEP" code into the PSP code prompt and push "X." Then push the "right" arrow on the directional pad to confirm the network settings.
Open the PSP browser to start surfing the internet.
